  • Detail of leg construction

Woods used:

Mainly Pear, Zebra, Wenge,Cherry(not visible) and 12mm Birch Plywood.

Construction techniques:

The table is 1.80 metres long and 85 centimeters wide and seats 6 to 8 people.Despite the size, the table is light and can be easily knocked-down with the help of a plastic hammer. No further tools are required. There are no screws involved in construction. The table is held together with tight-fitting dovetails, wedgded tenons and wooden pins, which connect and hold the table-top in place to the trestled legs. The table-top is made from 12mm birch plywood with a latticed cherrywood sub- construction to stiffen and stabilise.A pearwood frame runs around the plywood surface to hide the sub-construction.The table-top was finished with a blue pigmented oil.The rest of the table was oiled and waxed.
