Construction techniques:

The bed frame is made to accomodate a slightly oversize mattress. The bed frame and headboard are constructed of solid zebrawood. To support the mattress firwood battens were screwed to the inside of the sides and at intervals, covering the width of the bed frame, slats were screwed to the battens. The four feet were made up from the batten board and attached to two crosspieces, again running the width of the frame, and screwed to the underside of the support battens. The „feet“ were placed back from both sides and ends and gives the impression that the bed floats when seen normally. The zebrawood frame and headboard were scraped, lightly sanded, oiled and wax finished. The bed is so constructed that it can be taken apart, if necessary, for moving or stored flat.
