American cherry wood and American black walnut
This is the third version of a small series of coffee tables I planned and made over a number of years. All three tables had three common features. They all have the same crossed legs construction, the table top is divided into three areas, all joints used are open(visible). The third version uses two tiles specially made for this table. The customers had previously bought a teapot, cups and saucers from the potter and ceramic artist Evelyn Klam.My task was to plan and produce a coffee/tea table to match the pottery and to highlight its beauty.Ms.Klam produced several examples of tiles, two of which were chosen by my clients and then integrated into the table top.Another feature on this table is the adjustable shelf which is intended as storage space for newspapers and magazines.I repeated the same idea I'd used for the table top,on the panel for the shelf below, using the cherry and walnut woods.
