Batten board for the basic mirror frame, various modelling materials and figures(H0 gauge).
The idea was to make more out of a bathroom mirror, than just a bathroom mirror. The inspiration to actually use two mirrors has to do with the size of the bathroom. It's long and very narrow,a guest bathroom/toilet,and originally never had this function.Bathroom i.e.water,thus the theme for the mirror frames was found very quickly. One of the mirrors, when finished, was positioned on the wall over the wash basin. The second mirror was mounted in exactly the same position on the opposite wall. The result was to be able to look into one mirror but actually see both and consequently the four different scenes. Two of the scenes were diagonally opposite each other on the front mirror, the remaining two on the opposite corners on the back mirror.I was left a completely free hand to interpret the theme and find connecting motifs for the four scenes. The landscapes were created using various modelling materials and figures used elsewhere on scenes set for a model electric railway.I tried to make the scenes as realistic and varied as possible, but with a certain feel of surreal eccentricity and humour.
